USMMA Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Sweep Skyline Championships

PURCHASE, N.Y. (Jan. 28 2017) – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) men's and women's swimming & diving teams both won the 2017 Skyline Conference Championship after the two-day event hosted by Purchase College concluded on Saturday. It marked the men's 19th-straight conference title (the last 16 under Head Coach Sean Tedesco) and the women's first since 2005, which was the last championship for any women's program at the Academy.
 

Academy Announces $4 Million Gift For Lower Roosevelt Field Project

KINGS POINT, N.Y., January 4, 2017 - Today, the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) announced that it received a $4 million gift through the USMMA Alumni Association and Foundation (AAF) for major renovations to Lower Roosevelt Field. The project will create a state-of-the-art sports complex at the Academy not only for the baseball field, but soccer and lacrosse surfaces as well.

USMMA Midshipmen Deliver Holiday Joy

USMMA Brightens the Holiday Season with 39th Festival of Lights

Mariners Top Coast Guard, 50-47, Wednesday Night At Home

KINGS POINT, N.Y., December 7, 2016 – The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy men's basketball team defeated visiting Coast Guard in its Superintendents' Trophy rivalry matchup on Wednesday night at the Liebertz Gym by the final score of 50-47. The Mariners improve to 2-7 on the season, while the Bears fall to 3-4 in defeat.
 

Midshipmen Honored for Academic Excellence in the Classroom and at Sea

KINGS POINT, N.Y., December 2, 2016 – Over the past month, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Superintendent, Rear Admiral James A. Helis, Deputy Superintendent, Rear Admiral Susan L. Dunlap, Acting Commandant, CDR Mikel Stroud, and Interim Academic Dean, CDR Preston DeJean have awarded Academic Gold and Silver Stars to 297 midshipmen for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom during the First Term of Academic Year 2017.

USMMA To Host Annual Festival of Lights

KINGS POINT, NY, November 29, 2016 - The press and public are invited to attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy’s annual Festival of Lights, an interfaith holiday celebration. The Festival of Lights has been an annual celebration for the past 39 years. The celebration of the Festival of Lights is a reminder to bring the light to the dark places within ourselves and in our world.
