Waterfront Athletics
Welcome to the home of USMMA Waterfront Athletics, where a 75-year tradition of excellence develops the highest caliber of athletes and leaders in the nation. Our waterfront programs prepare Midshipmen through rigorous Division I intercollegiate competition, top-tier facilities, and elite coaching, producing Olympians, National Champions, and All-Americans.
The USMMA Waterfront Athletics encompasses three primary Division I athletic programs: Varsity Dinghy Sailing, Varsity Offshore Sailing, and Varsity Rowing.

USMMA King Point Sailing Preview
In this video, the USMMA Kings Point Sailing Team prepares for the 2021 ICSA Singlehanded National Championship at Salve Regina University.
Varsity Dinghy Sailing
As the most decorated varsity team at USMMA, the Dinghy Sailing program is an epicenter for greatness in college sailing.
Accolades: The program boasts an incredible 17 National Championship Titles, 56 National All-Americans, 6 College Sailors of the Year, 2 Olympians, and 9 USMMA Hall of Fame Inductees.
Competition: The team actively competes within the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) against colleges and universities throughout the United States. They consistently rank in the Top-25 of the ICSA National Rankings.
Varsity Offshore Sailing
The USMMA Varsity Offshore Sailing Team is one of the few fully-backed varsity offshore programs in the country and holds a history of success unmatched by other collegiate programs.
Accolades: The team has captured 3 ICSA National Championship Titles alongside countless regional and international victories.
Competition: The team races in major prestigious events, including the Marblehead-Halifax, Annapolis-Newport, and Newport-Bermuda Races.
The Fleet: Generously supported by the United States Merchant Marine Sailing Foundation, the team operates one of the largest and newest fleets in the nation, featuring a Mills 41, J44, a IC37, and a fleet of J70s.
Varsity Rowing
Though the newest addition to Waterfront Athletics, the Kings Point Varsity Rowing team has quickly established itself as a formidable contender, winning at the novice, lightweight, heavyweight, and women's levels.
Competition: The program offers a challenging schedule of fall head-style racing and spring sprint competition in both sweep and sculling.
Key Events: The team consistently represents USMMA at the highest caliber of events, including the prestigious Head of the Charles and the Dad Vail National Championship.
Clubs and Recreational Teams
Beyond our varsity programs, the waterfront oversees numerous highly active club teams that allow Midshipmen to hone their nautical skills.

The Power Squadron
A club managing an expansive fleet of motorized vessels for training, cruises, and athletic team transport.
The Fishing Team
Competes in regional and national fishing events, routinely securing prize finishes.
The Tug Club
Introduces Midshipmen to the towing industry using the 60-foot T/V Elizabeth Anne.

Our programs actively recruit top-ranked sailing and rowing prospects domestically and internationally. Waterfront Athletics is spearheaded by Director of Varsity Programs, Rick Dominique, who has led Kings Point to multiple National Championship titles since joining in 1999.
