USMMA Announces New Interim Academic Dean

Eulogizing a Legend: Hundreds Pay Tribute to Susan Petersen Lubow at Memorial Service

KINGS POINT, N.Y., October 9, 2015 – Today during morning colors, the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) hosted a ceremony to remember and honor the officers and crew who were lost aboard the El Faro, which sank last week in the Atlantic Ocean.

As the U.S. Coast Guard suspended the search for survivors of the U.S. container ship, El Faro, last night, we received confirmation that one of our own, Steven Wink Shultz, Kings Point class of 1984, was a member of its crew.  We join our partner Academies and the entire Merchant Marine community in grieving the loss the El Faro’s 33 crew members.

KINGS POINT, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2015) – On Monday, the United States Merchant Marine Academy learned that a beloved and much admired, long-time member of our USMMA family, former Athletic Director Susan "Sue" Petersen Lubow, has passed away.
