KINGS POINT, NEW YORK, July 3, 2014 - Yesterday, The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point (USMMA) welcomed its incoming Class of 2018, consisting of 252 plebe candidates representing 46 states and 4 Foreign Countries, including Malaysia, Romania, Panama and the Republic of Korea.
KINGS POINT, N.Y., June 21, 2014 - The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point graduated 225 new Merchant Marine and Military Officers as part of its Class of 2014 commencement ceremony. The keynote speaker, Vice Admiral Michelle J. Howard, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans and Strategy, gave the commencement address before a crowd of more than 2,300 including special guest Deputy Secretary of Transportation Victor M.
Maritime TV will presenting a live webcast of USMMA’s 78th Commencement Exercises.

KINGS POINT, NY, June 17, 2014 – Yesterday, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx and Acting Maritime Administrator Paul “Chip” Jaenichen visited the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) to celebrate the rechristening of the Academy’s new training vessel, the Kings Pointer. They were joined Rear Admiral James Helis, Superintendent, as well as Senator Charles Schumer and Representatives Timothy Bishop and Steve Israel.
The United States Merchant Marine Academy's (USMMA) newest merchant marine officers will ring the bell at Powell Oval after passing U.S. Coast Guard license exams, on Thursday, June 4thth . This event will begin once results are announced, but does not have a firm start time. Results should be announced close to 1:00 p.m.
