Biography

Dan Irving is a narratologist interested in how readers engage with exceptionally slow, boring, digressive, overly-descriptive, and otherwise barely-narrative texts. His dissertation, Nothing Never Happens: Adventures in Narrativity, examines a range of contemporary experiments with literary and visual narrative, including dialogue novels, microfiction, and slow TV. His work appears in journals including Frontiers of Narrative Studies, Poetics Today, Enthymema, and CounterText.
