Classroom and Distance Learning Technologies

The USMMA campus is home to fully equipped digital classrooms featuring the latest equipment and controls. The Academy network provides support for video on demand streaming, high bandwidth wireless access, and videoconferencing.

There are nearly 1500 computers on campus!

There are 5 dedicated computer labs containing over 100 computers, but increasingly, more and more classrooms are becoming laptop labs with the proliferation of wireless access points.USMMA provides access to two of the dominant course, or learning, management systems in the latest versions of Blackboard and Moodle. Either system is accessible to support residential and distance learning courses. Midshipmen are provided virtual private networking software to establish access to all campus technologies wherever they may be as long as they have access to a broadband connection to the Internet.

Whether at sea or at home, every midshipman is supported by the Department of Information Technology (DoIT). In conjunction with the Office of the Dean and the Academy Training Representatives in the Office of Professional Development and Career Services, midshipmen are eligible to receive next day shipment of loaner laptops, when their official Academy laptop requires repairs.
