USMMA Ranked #2 Top Public School by "U.S. News and World Report"

KINGS POINT, N.Y., Sept. 14, 2020 - The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point has been named America’s second Top Public School in the north region according to the 2021 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings.

USMMA was also named the third best regional college in the north region, which encompasses the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. USMMA’s Engineering Program has been ranked the 26th best Undergraduate Engineering Program accredited by ABET (formerly known as Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology).

“The academic experience provided by USMMA is second to none. From classroom work to Sea Year training, to athletic competition and leadership in the Regiment, USMMA demands exceptional performance from its students and faculty in every aspect of learning and leadership development,” said Rear Admiral John R. Ballard, Academic Dean and Provost. “We are extraordinarily pleased to appear on this distinguished list again this year, and look forward to performing in a manner that ensures we remain represented as one of the best well into the future.”

USMMA was also recently included in The Princeton’s Review’s 2021 college guide, The Best 386 Colleges. The Princeton list is aggregated and does not include individual institution rankings.
