KINGS POINT, N.Y. August 12, 2025 - The U. S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) at Kings Point will host Parents Weekend, September 5-7, 2025.

Highlights of Parents Weekend will include a swearing-in ceremony and parade on Friday, September 5th, to mark the acceptance of the Plebe Class into the U.S. Navy Reserve. 

The weekend will also offer opportunities to visit midshipman living quarters, academic classes, and sporting events. The Class of 2029 will enjoy their first night of liberty since entering the Academy. (Note: Restriction and watches remain in effect during Parents Weekend. Please check with your Midshipman/Plebe to ensure they meet eligibility requirements for liberty.

The current schedule is as follows, but may be adjusted at the Commandant's discretion.

PARENTS WEEKEND

FRIDAY, September 5, 2025

0715 – Colors Formation – Flagpole

0730 – 1540 – Open Classroom Visitations.  Visits are on a space available basis.  This is your opportunity to visit the classrooms and observe the learning atmosphere of your Midshipman experiences.  Obtain your Midshipman’s class schedule and have them ask the instructor if there is space for you to attend.

0800 – 1500 – Parents Association Chapters set up on grassy area next to Barney Square.

0800 – 1500 – Waterfront open for general visiting.

0900 – 1500 – Museum open for general visiting.

0900 – 1500 – Mariners’ Chapel Open for general visiting.

1030 – 1130 – Pick up Boxed Lunch at Barney Square (Ticket Required Advance Sales Only*)  

1145 – 1200 – Lunch Muster and Regimental March in – Barney Square

**NOTE: All Midshipmen MUST eat noon meal with the Regiment in Delano Hall**

1300 – 1400 – Superintendents’ Forum – Ackerman Auditorium. Director of Facilities and Infrastructure, Academic Dean, Commandant, and Regimental Commander will also be available to answer questions.

1545 – 1615 – Regimental Parade/Plebe Swearing-In Ceremony – Tomb Field.

1630 – 1730 - Barracks open for visiting.

1800 – 2100 – USMMA Football Game vs Montclair State – Tomb Field.

1815 – 2000 – BBQ Dinner on Tomb Field (Families may have dinner with their Midshipmen).

2100 –            Liberty will commence for all eligible Midshipmen.

Liberty Muster for the Class of 2029 (Upon completion of the football game) – Barney Square

2300 –            Campus Closed.

1100 – 1300 – Men’s Soccer Game vs Hunter College – Bartoszek Field.
