KINGS POINT, N.Y., May 27, 2014 - Yesterday, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Regimental Band and Color Guard and Regiment of Midshipmen led the 90th annual Great Neck Memorial Day Parade. The parade which honored fallen servicemen and women marched north on Middle Neck Road and concluded with a remembrance service on the Village Green.
“It was very humbling to hear a mother explain to her children that the midshipmen marching in front of them will one day be fighting overseas to keep them safe at home,” said Midshipman Scott Ublacker 2/C. Midshipman Antonia Mistron, 2/C, said, “It was a beautiful day, and observing this holiday with the citizens of Great Neck was a rewarding experience. It demonstrates the strong relationship between USMMA and the surrounding communities.”
