Midshipman Employment

Need help? Midshipmen sometimes like to make some money on their own time.

Members of the community are invited to share opportunities they may have where Midshipmen are needed to do work in the local community.

Examples: Snow shoveling, moving furniture, waitering.

Please email the Office of Student Activities at the contact email on the right of this page if you are interested in employing a Midshipman.

No calls, please.

Please include a job description, date, time, location, and a contact email address/phone number. Also, include an hourly rate of pay at or above $15 per/hour. Requests without complete information will not be forwarded.

Email requests to McCarthyA@USMMA.EDU

Please note: The Director of Student Activities will share your contact information with eligible Midshipmen, but does not guarantee your position will be filled.

The Director of Student Activities will not forward requests that involve potentially dangerous activities, babysitting, elder care, or any activities that would not otherwise be open to all Midshipmen regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or age. Requests may not violate federal, state, or local laws, or the United States Merchant Marine Academy mission, policies, or procedures.  Further,  the request may not require the Midshipman to engage in any action or situation which recklessly or intentionally endangers his or her mental or physical health. The Midshipmen are not authorized to wear uniforms for outside employment, and, while employed, do not represent the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Maritime Administration, Department of Transportation or the United States Government.
