USMMA to Host 47th Festival of Lights

KINGS POINT, N.Y., November 30, 2024 - The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) invites our friends, families and neighbors to the Festival of Lights interfaith holiday celebration. For the past 47 years, the Festival of Lights has been a time-honored tradition of celebrating the holidays with music and readings by our midshipmen, staff and faculty.  

Please join us as we welcome the holiday season!

Place:  USMMA Mariners’ Memorial Chapel, 300 Steamboat Road, Kings Point, N.Y.

Date:  Monday, December 16, 2024

Time: 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.; Preconcert will begin at 6:30 p.m.; Refreshments to follow.

Seating is limited, so guests are encouraged to arrive early.

The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, located in Kings Point, N.Y, educates and graduates leaders of exemplary character who are inspired to serve the national security, marine transportation, and economic needs of the United States as licensed Merchant Marine Officers and commissioned officers in the Armed Forces. The Academy, which was established under the Merchant Marine Act of 1936, was dedicated as the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1943 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It is administered by the Maritime Administration under the auspices of the Department of Transportation.
