SAT and ACT Exams
All candidates are required to take either:
- The standardized College Board's Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT I), or
- The standardized American College Testing Program's test (ACT)
Required testing must be completed by the first test date of the year in which admission is sought, unless permission is requested and received, in writing, from the Academy's director of admissions. All tests should be taken within 16 months prior to the month of enrollment.
The current minimum qualifying scores for the SAT Reasoning Test are 540 for Critical Reading and 560 for Math*. Scores for the writing portion will be used for placement upon enrollment into the Academy. The minimum total score of 1100 must have each of the minimum component scores as shown. Achieving a total score of 1100 without having a minimum of 540 Critical Reading and a minimum of 560 Math does not meet the Academy's minimum test score requirements.
- The Academy's College Board Code Number is 2923.
The current minimum qualifying scores for the ACT are 23 English and 24 Math*. You must also achieve a minimum composite score of 23. Each of the three minimum scores must be achieved individually in order to meet the Academy's minimum test score requirements.
- The Academy's ACT Code Number is 2974.
*The basic standardized SAT Reasoning Test or standardized ACT qualifying scores for admission will be determined by the Academy for each entering class. The Academy does not accept the non-standard or untimed administration of the SAT or ACT.
It is the candidate's responsibility to register for the examinations. Registration instructions are contained in information bulletins available at no cost to most secondary schools. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces should find copies available in their units' education offices. Bulletins may also be obtained by writing to:
