| The T/V Kings Pointer is a US Coast Guard inspected vessel. The USCG sets manning requirements for the ship. On voyages of less than 12 hours, the ship is required to carry a Master, Chief Engineer, and an Able Bodied Seaman. On ocean voyages, the ship is required to carry a Master, Chief Engineer, three Mates, an Assistant Engineer, and unlicensed crew members. For additional information on the vessel's manning, refer to the Certificate of Inspection. The Director of the Department of Waterfront Activities is responsible for the overall direction of operation, maintenance and repair of the T/V KINGS POINTER. When the T/V KINGS POINTER is used as a platform for special projects for the Academy and/or other agencies, government or non-government that is authorized by the Superintendent the Director will negotiate the SPECIAL PROJECT with the potential user. The Master is also responsible for the deck department and the Chief Engineer is responsible for the engine department. The other officers include a mate and two assistant engineers. These officers are responsible for the day-to-day tasks of running the ship. |
