USMMA Midshipmen Recognized at Connie Awards Event

KINGS POINT, N.Y., December 12, 2013 - On Monday, five United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) midshipmen received scholarships at the prestigious annual Connie Awards luncheon at the Newark Club in Newark, New Jersey. An audience of about 300 distinguished representatives from various sectors of the transportation industry was present to see them recognized.  Academy Superintendent, Rear Admiral James A. USMMA's Captain George E. Edenfield appointed to serve on Merchant Marine Personnel Advisory Committee

The United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) announced that Captain George E. Edenfield, Head of the Department of Marine Transportation, has received a federal appointment from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to serve in the Merchant Marine Personnel Advisory Committee (MERPAC).

Midshipman Holtzworth Presents Winning Paper at Connecticut Maritime Association's "Shipping 2013" Conference

STAMFORD, C.T., March 19, 2013 – Midshipman Ian Holtzworth took first prize in the Student Research Papers Competition for his paper “The OBO: A Bridge between Supply and Demand Fundamentalists and Those Ushering in the ‘Eco Age' ” at the Connecticut Maritime Association’s annual Trade Show and Conference, Shipping 2013.
