

The mission
of Department of Waterfront Activities is to support midshipmen
leadership training and professional development through
the use of Waterfront resources. This is accomplished
by:

Providing
and maintaining a high quality waterfront facility
capable of meeting the needs of midshipmen training,
as well as competitive and recreational programs;
-
Providing
facilities and vessels to assist the Departments of
Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering in meeting
their curricular objectives;
-
Promoting
the Academy and the maritime transportation industry
through public relations efforts;
-
Allowing
midshipmen to assume the highest possible levels of
responsibility as vessel skippers, crew members and
midshipmen officers.
The
Department of Waterfront Activities is responsible for
the operational oversight of the Academy's training vessel
KINGS POINTER; the operation and maintenance of over 100
watercraft; the maintenance of all waterfront piers, floats,
and infrastructure; and the oversight of the following
varsity and club sports:

Intercollegiate Sailing Team (the dinghy team)

Offshore Sailing Team (the big boat team)

Crew Team

The
Power Squadron (power vessel training and varsity
program support)

Windjammers
(phys ed tranining and recreational sailing)
