

The Academy serves
over 2000 meals per day to its residential student population,
while providing special food services for traveling teams,
watchstanders, and the training ship.
The current contract food service provider is Sodexho-Marriott,
and has the challenging task of providing meals that are
appetizing, in adequate portions, healthy, and affordable.
For example, considered the difficulty of cooking and
serving nearly seventy, fifteen-pound turkeys for the
annual Regimental Thanksgiving Dinner, and training the
70 fourth-class servers trained to carve the bird!
In
addition to overseeing the contractors providing the core
midshipman food service, the Food Service Officer also
oversees the operation of the Seafarer canteen (deli-type cafe)
and the Topside restaurant. These services provide
faculty, staff and visitors with wholesome food at reasonable
prices.
The
Academy's Officer's
Club (Melville Hall) is operated independently of
the food service.
