During Parents Weekend and Acceptance Day 2011, the Class of 2015 took their oath of office into the Academy’s Corps of Cadets followed by the U.S. Navy Reserve (as Midshipmen); the plebe candidates were promoted to plebes.  The oaths taken state that the Class of 2015 will fulfill their roles and duties as members of the U.S. Navy Reserve and respect the rules and standards set forth by the Regiment of Midshipmen.

The Vice Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Mark E. Ferguson, III, USN, administered the U.S. Naval Reserve Oath with Superintendent, Rear Admiral Philip H. Greene Jr., USMS, administering the Academy’s Corp of Cadets oath.  Following the oaths, the Regiment of Midshipman passed in review of the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Mark E. Ferguson, III, USN, Superintendent, Rear Admiral Philip H. Greene Jr., USMS, and National President of the Navy League of the United States, Mr. Daniel B. Branch, Jr.

Acceptance Day coincided with Parents Weekend which is the first weekend in which all parents are invited to the Academy to spend time on the grounds since their son or daughter first arrived.  As part of the memorable experience, parents were able to attend classes, view lunch muster and march in, and participate in a variety of other activities.  Parents were also encouraged to attend Admissions Representative Training.  During this training, attendees were given a wide variety of information via a Power Point Presentation.

Friday evening, 2 Sep 2011, the Academy Band performed in the Ceremony of Beating Retreat at the direction of Captain Kenneth R. Force, USMS.  The performance from the Midshipmen and Plebe Candidates included a Salute to the Hero’s and Fallen of 9/11, Band Show Time, and joint who with the Nassau County Police Pipes and Drums.

The weekend concluded with all four classes receiving leave through the Labor Day holiday.
